Philip Giddings’s text Audio Systems Design and Installation has been reprinted, available as a direct order from Post Toronto Books. First released in 1990, the book stands the test of time well and still fills an important niche not well covered by any other text. Giddings covers the topic in a readable manner suitable for students in an advanced systems class, while also being a valuable resource that I have returned to many times.

The topics Giddings covers well— grounding, conduit and rack systems, and analog equipment interconnection—have not changed much in the last twenty years. Good analog system design rests on the same fundamentals, and undesired noise in sound systems still comes from the same ground loops and electromagnetic interference (EMI) it has always come from.
